Available in Japan starting next month, the external USB 2.0 and eSATA BR-816SU2 and internal SATA BR-816FBS models hit that 8x recording speed on single-layer BD-R media only &#8212; 2x for dual-layer BD-R, BD-RE, and LTH BD-R. CDs and DVDs are supported too naturally, with a max 16x burn to DVD&plusmn;R or 48x/24x for CD-R/RW. Each drive comes bundled with Cyberlink&#8217;s PowerDVD 7 suite and are priced at &yen;46,700 (about $435) for the external drive or &yen;41,000 (about $380) for the internal optical spinner.</p>

<div align="left">We&#8217;ve already gotten word of most of the details of <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/07/13/samsungs-i8510-inspires-8-megapixels-of-awe/">Samsung&#8217;s i8510</a> INNOV8 (get it?) smartphone, but things just got a whole lot more official for the device in Europe and, coincidentally, a number of sites recently got to spend some time with the phone in NYC (despite the lack of an official US release). Of course, there&#8217;s not a whole lot of surprises to be found, but it certainly seems like the phone will get the job done and then some, with its built in camera not only boasting an impressive 8 megapixels, but auto-focus, image stabilization, and a flash as well. The rest of the specs aren&#8217;t too shabby either. <p>We had a chance to see Samsung&#8217;s not-exactly-diminutive <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/08/video-samsung-sp-p400-not-so-pocket-projector/">SP-P400</a> projector at CES this year, but it seems the time has finally come for Sammy to release it into the wild. Reportedly, this portable beamer is now available in South Korea (alongside the SP-D300 business projector) for around $800, which it would totally be worth if it fit easily within the confines of a front pocket. At 145- x 145- x 64-millimeters, we&#8217;d have to think about it. Heavily.</p>
