Stress is Sort of Funny

by Sara Mendez

Stress is a funny thing. Stress can motivate you to achieve more than you believed possible. Stress can also ruin your health and sometimes even your life.

What stress does to you seems to hinge on how much stress you have and what sorts of stress. It can also hinge on what your past has taught you about stress - how you have learned to react to stress.

The physical signs of stress are meant to help you physically survive - fight or flight. In today’s world, this is only rarely helpful, since most stress today is mental.

Psychological stress will stem from problems such as worry about money, family, and your health. Your body’s physical reaction to stress does not do anything for these situations. Because these kinds of situations are quite common and long-term, your body can be experiencing a constant state of stress.

This is what causes stress related health problems as varied as headaches, insomnia, trouble thinking clearly, depression and digestion problems. Health problems from stress eventually just increases the stress you already have.

It is obvious that managing and reducing your stress is a priority. There are thousands of people offering you advice on how to do this. You will need to find what works for you. What advice is most helpful for your situation and your way of doing things?

Finding the right choice for yourself is easier when you are more aware of what causes your stress and how you experience it.

It can be helpful to decide of your stress is situational or behavioral - Is your stress reaction appropriate for the current situation or does it feel blown out of proportion? Figuring this out can require some brutal honesty on your part.

If it is situational, what are the causes and can they be addressed in a practical manner? Is it realistic to expect yourself to get some form of exercise and a proper diet? (I know from personal experience, if I have high stress it is when my life is too busy to work-out or get to the grocery store for planned meals)

If your stress if from behaviors, spend some time reviewing the situation. Separate what is about now and what is about the past, such as memories of past emotional events. (the stronger the emotion, the more vivid the memory. The more vivid the memory, the stronger the stress you will continue to feel from it.)

When you better understand your past, you are better able to find ways to effectively deal with it.

Situational stress you can work through and will eventually be behind you. Behavioral stress may need outside help to get behind you and may take a little more time to get beyond. It IS possible, will take some effort, and IS worth doing.

If you consider your stress a serious problem, seek professional help. Prescription Medicine is sometimes an answer, though many people complain of side effects and do not like the foggy feeling some medicines give. They’ll sometimes say they don’t know which is worse, to live in a fog or to be stressed.

Explore and educate yourself about your options. Then, make use of them. When it comes to improving your life, the only poor choice is to not try.

Don’t Settle for Less than the Best!

Hiring the most qualified erector to assemble your prefab steel building is a key decision that will affect the overall success of your building project. Many different problems for your steel building project may be the fault of an incompetent steel building erector. The most obvious potential problem is, of course, incorrectly erecting the building.

You will need to get in touch with a person who is trained and practiced in the type of building you are having erected. However, just because the erector says he has job experience, does not indicate the work experience includes your exact building system. At the point when you have to choose an erector, consider the following helpful guidelines.

Talk with someone for guidance in finding the erector you need. The first step to take when looking for a prospective erector is to look over past work. Look at least one recent and one older project. See to it that the work on these building projects was acceptable and to see if any mistakes that came up were addressed.

Did they fix all concerns with these projects? A good erector will have done so. It is very important to find out if the erector is certified by a professional steel building supplier to erect your type of building and to verify if he and his crew have recently attended training sessions to update their various skills.

It is very important to find someone who is capable of managing the project and communicate with others at the worksite. This is the job of the project superintendent. Also, contrary to what you (or your accountant) may think, don’t make it a practice to always contract with the lowest bidder for a job. Low bids can be harbingers of poor performance. Why is this the case? There might not be ample funds in such a low bid to allow all of the work to be completed accurately.

The most costly erector could have originally been the least expensive. A copy of an OSHA-approved safety program has got to be presented by the erector you are thinking about. Weekly on-site safety meetings have got to be held and the erector must be current on all safety requirements.

Locating an erector is a necessary part of the procedure of gathering all the necessary pieces in order to start construction. Yet, it is only the start and there are further concerns to deal with. Substantiate that instructions and erection drawings are accessible for the job. Either you or a professional consultant should look at all of the jobsite drawings to be sure they are complete. And, once again (it’s so important, it’s worth repeating) be sure there will be an on-site, full-time superintendent to take charge daily of the job site and take care of whatever problems that may occur during assembly. Design changes should not be allowed without cautious consideration. If you do make changes, it could complicate mattes more than help.

Finally, it’s a really good idea to analyze the work regularly and make sure that the proper tools and equipment are being used, that temporary bracing is being utilized constantly throughout the building site, that design bracing requirements are followed for the permanent bracing, and that the appearance is not “out-of-plane.” Finally, adhering to these guidelines will help make sure that your building is erected properly and thus give you many years of satisfactory use of the new building.

This article has clearly been a brief overview and is not intended to thoroughly cover the topic. We have only hit on the key ideas. Most likely we have only raised more questions than we have answered. Therefore, if you do have more questions (as we imagine you do) then we recommend that you call a reputable company. I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to answer your questions and probably offer you a great deal on a new building!
